X FACTOR’S Bella Penfold revealed how she lost five stone she put on after ‘sitting in a dark room and eating biscuits’ as she battled depression.

The  stunning singer, 19,  who was axed from the ITV show last night, revealed her battle with depression left her contemplating the value of her life.

Brave Bella has opened up about how she turned her life around after beating her demons to become a singer.

Bella, who lost an astonishing five stone two years ago, told the Sun Online: “I was young, had a lot of anxiety, I was clearly struggling with my sexuality who I am as a person, and I was five stone heavier. At points I couldn’t see the quality of life – I didn’t really have much value for life. Now I’m like, what the hell was I thinking?

“And if anyone feels like that ever, that’s not a feeling you will have forever. To anyone struggling – just carry on. You can make a change. “

She added: “A few years ago I was in my room, blinds down watching depressing TV programmes. I didn’t have many friends, I was eating packs of biscuits.

“Biscuits was my thing. You know how bad it was?  I would always make two cups of tea so I knew there would be enough tea for the amount of McVities I was about to eat. I still do this now because I love tea – but not with biscuits. I write music instead.”

Bella spoke about the turning point that made her change her lifestyle and outlook on life, and lose weight.

She said: “I stopped eating biscuits. It was compromising my health. I was looking at myself, the more I looked in the mirror I was getting sad, the more I was sitting in my bed, the more I was watching, and eating in the dark.
